The New Testament in Modern Speech
The well-known modern translation of the New Testament.
ISBN-13: 9780227675502 |
Dr Weymouth's deservedly popular translation of the New Testament into everyday English was first published in 1902, and has been in print through numerous editions ever since, with millions of copies sold. It is in no sense a revision of previous versions, but an original translation from the Greek. Dr Weyland's aim has been to discover how the inspired writers themselves would have expressed their thoughts and described the events of the Gospels had they been writing in the 20th century. In doing so, he has succeeded in rendering the New Testament into dignified, modern English without ecclesiastical or doctrinal bias, making it accessible to Christians of all denominations.
"This translation swings open unsuspected doors into the truth of the New Testament."
Norman Vincent Peale
"I regard Weymouth's New Testament in Modern Speech as an invaluable aid to the understanding of the New Testament. It should be in every man's library. For the preacher it is indispensable."
Ernest F. Tittle
"Dr Weymouth brings to light many priceless gems and delicate shades of meaning."
The Defender
"It is deeply inspiring."
The Living Church
