Cookies are small text files which are initially downloaded to your computer when you access a web site, and stored on your computer's hard-drive. The cookie is then "read" by the site's web pages as you navigate them, allowing the site to identify your browser and so "remember" who you are.

This allows your browsing experience to be personalised, so that you can access your account, add books to your shopping cart, place orders, view details of your past orders, and write reviews. You can browse our web site without enabling cookies on your browser, but if you do so, you will be unable to log in to your account, or to access any of the personalised facilities on our web site.

Our policy on cookie use is as follows:

  1. We never use cookies to store any personal information that can be used to identify you, such as your name, or which could be used to access your account, such as your account password.
  2. The majority of cookies used by our web site are session cookies, which are deleted from your hard drive when you close your browser. The only exceptions are general tracking cookies that simply record that you have visited our site before, and which have an expiry date of no more than two years. You can delete these cookies without affecting your browsing experience. Some browsers allow you to delete cookies automatically when you close the browser window. Please see your browser's help file for details.
  3. No third-party cookies (i.e., cookies which are controlled or used by web sites other than or are sent by our web site. 1. We may need to pass on information to other companies in order to provide services to you. For example, if you pay for your order by credit card, some of your contact information is passed on to PaymentSense for the purpose of processing your payment. We may also sometimes engage other companies or individuals to perform actions on our behalf that require access to the information we hold. This may include processing and delivering orders, maintaining and updating our databases and analysing data for marketing purposes. Under these circumstances, these third parties will have access only to the information required, and are not permitted to use it for any other purpose.
  2. In the event of our company or assets being acquired by another organisation, any customer information we hold may be passed on to the acquiring organisation as part of our company's assets. In the event of our acquiring another company or business from another organisation, any customer information we hold may be shared with the acquired business as part of our company's assets. In either of these events, your information will still remain subject to the conditions of this privacy policy at the time of the acquisition.
  3. We will release personal information held by us to the appropriate authorities when we are required to do so by law. We may also release information to appropriate third parties in order to protect the rights and property of the Lutterworth Press and James Clarke and Co Ltd, and the rights and safety of our customers or others.
