About the Author

Pauline Baynes has had a long and distinguished career as an illustrator and designer, and has illustrated over 100 books. She includes amongst her work the original illustrations for The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings. She won the Kate Greenaway Award for The Dictionary of Chivalry.
